Veloci Brass Coupler 1/2” FPT (24.0071) – Leak-Proof for High-Pressure Flow
Veloci 1/2” FPT brass coupler makes it easy and quick to connect and disconnect hoses, spray guns and other equipment. The 1/2” Female Pipe Thread brass fitting is compatible with high pressure cleaning attachments like lances, foam cannons, and tips to increase cleaning productivity. These brass fittings are designed to hold pressure and seal reliably for years of use.
Brass will darken over time, but this does not affect the ability to hold pressure or seal at all. It will work like new for years. For a more rust resistant fitting with a higher PSI rating, upgrade to stainless steel fittings from Veloci.
1/2” couplers are often used on the ends of hoses or at connection points for tools that need to be connected and disconnected often as you do a cleaning job. They are also often used in systems where the larger flow or longer hose runs require a more robust connection that is still convenient to access.
Couplers are one type of quick-connect fitting. A general rule is that male fittings are outside threaded and female fittings have threads inside the port. Veloci couplers are NPT (National Pipe Thread), which is a tapered shape for sealing pressure without leaks.
To seal the threads:
- Wrap 4–5 times clockwise with Teflon tape, or
- Apply 2–3 drops of Loctite thread sealant before pushing in the fitting
If you’re installing a hose or nozzle on a connection with BSP (British Standard Pipe) threads, these are straight threads, not tapered. Use 6–7 wraps of Teflon tape to seal BSP into NPT threads.
You’ll notice that you get more resistance to tightening BSP into NPT, but you can still make a good seal with enough tape or Loctite. Don’t force or overtighten mismatched threads, though—just seal them properly and tighten them snug.
